I Love Gin.com is a new company run by “a happy bunch of gin lovers” who orchestrate a Gin & Tonic subscription box which they send out once a month.
Each box contains a couple of miniature gins and different tonics. Combine them to make 4 G&Ts at a cost of £14 per month.
I Love Gin work with a variety of brands, from lesser known to others which they feel worthy of discovery. They’re clearly very passionate about their chosen spirit. Their blog is testament to their love of the juniper berry!
Gin’s a relatively new discovery for me, so this box piqued my interest.
This month’s selection included two gins from 6 O’Clock Gin. A ‘strikingly smooth’ gin and a sloe gin. There was also two tonic waters from Peter Spanton, including a London tonic and a curious Cardamom tonic.
Now, if you like your G&T’s, and you’re even halfway interested in branching out new things, then this will be right up your street. I’ve sampled many beer subscription boxes and, each time, I discover a beer that I never heard of before and it became a new favourite. That principle applies here.
The box also comes (well packed) with some info about the bottles you’re about to pop open.
The cardamom tonic water did, indeed, have a strong cardamom aroma and taste. It’s very unusual, but that’s the whole point of this box. You sample something different, savour it and decide if it’s something you’d like to try again.
The sloe gin was delicious. It’s a favourite of mine and I’d definitely like to get this again.
So, what happens if you like what you find? Well, ILoveGin.com tells us that members can “buy full-sized bottles of gin, or more tonics with big members-only discounts!”
The £14 per month also includes postage. That puts the cost at £3.50 per drink, to your door. Definitely a good shout if you’re somebody who thinks “I Love Gin”!
