I recently set myself a challenge – to produce at least one new piece of music every month for ten months.

The first month has now passed and I am on track!

I slightly cheated in using a piece of music that I’d already started, but it’s been a long time since I did this. Not starting with a completely blank slate meant I could find my feet again with the music software with a pre-existing piece. It worked.

It’s not been without hiccups. I’ve had technical hitches, and I’m not that confident about mixing music anymore.

I’m also very aware of the fact that laptop and phone speakers completely miss out that bass that you can hear on a regular speaker set up. It means that you have to mix with two different basses in the mix at once, which makes things sound muddy.

Music Goals

For purity reasons, I think I’ll do two different versions of each tune. One for laptops & phones, and another full mix for proper speakers. Each version will be purer that way.

So, month two is beginning. This time, I’ll be starting a tune from scratch. First time in a long time that I’ve done that.

Wish me luck. Again.
