Annie’s Grannies : Book Review

We were sent Annie’s Grannies to review, which is aimed squarely at my two youngest’s age group (4 & 5).

The Annie’s Grannies synopsis is as follows:

Annie is a normal 10 year old girl. Her parents often go away to do boring work things, which means she gets to spend lots of time with her hopeless grannies. They’re always up to something and it never quite goes the way it’s supposed to. The most simple of things become complicated in their hands and the consequences are hilarious. Today they’re painting and decorating… …what could possibly go wrong!

Annie's Grannies

Annie’s Grannies is told in rhyme with colourful pics on every page. My kids seemed especially amused by the moments when the grown ups fell over. It’s pretty much slapstick humour throughout.

Annie's Grannies

The story has a lot of heart. My kids liked the tale and the mess that was made throughout the house. They’ll be happy to know that there appears to be another five Annie’s Grannies books on the way!

Annie’s Grannies is written by stay-at-home dad Darron Love and is available from Amazon for just £5!

An entire plate of tomato pasta just leapt off a tray and onto a cream wall once. I swear, it just jumped out of my hands.

I think it was probably when I was a child. I loved Campbell’s condensed soup Tomato and Rice flavour. Delicious and filling. Setback was I was a girly girl and loved to wear dresses. I can recall one which was white on top with a floral pattern on the skirt area. I thought it looked so pretty. But unfortunately I spilt some of my soup onto the dress and my Mum had difficulty getting the stain removed. It was a twin tub she had in those days. Stain faded by remained persistently. So Mum took the dress to dry cleaners :- Success!

I think the worst mess I’ve made was when I took the cover off a bean bag to wash it and the inner bag split and the ‘beans’ went everywhere! I tried to put them back in but gave up and just sucked them up with the hoover, lol x

My worst mess was many years ago when I opened a tin of raspberries that had blown. The complete contents of the tin just exploded skywards! The ceiling was covered in squishly raspberries and was a terrible shade of pink/red/brown…as was the rest of the kitchen,. The whole kitchen had to be repainted and the ceiling took several coats of paint to cover all the staining! If I think a tin has blown I now throw it away…..lesson learned!!

I’m forever spilling things much to my husband’s dismay! The last thing was dropping half the bottle of my daughter’s antibiotic medicine onto the carpet, and I still can’t get the stain out completely!

I dropped an almost-new tin of emulsion when I was decorating and missed the bottom step of the ladder. Until you have tried to ‘pick up’ a wave of emulsion on the floor, you haven’t lived.

I painted the TV and the couch to match the new colour paint my dad had just put on the walls when I was about 4/5……his fault though, parents should know that no matter how child proof a kid is asvertised to be (and however impossible they found it themselves to get off) a child will always find a way.
