I discovered Pure Scot whisky earlier in 2016. It’s since become one of my favourite blended whiskies.
Made in Dumfries and exported, mostly, to Melbourne, Australia, Pure Scot has rather an unusual story behind it.
I wrote that it was noted as being a blend of “unique Bladnoch Single Malt, robust island malts, aged Speyside and Highland malts and select grain whiskies”. The fact is, it’s a very flexible whisky, meaning it can be used in a variety of ways. I love to drink it with a splash of water, but it’s also suitable for those who like a whisky with a mixer.
With Christmas fast approaching, however, it’s the perfect time to look at three of the best seasonal cocktails which would perfectly suit Pure Scot and put you in the festive mood!
Hot Chocolate with Cinnamon and Whisky
Source / Link : A Brown Table
Chocolate, warm milk, cinnamon, marshmallows and a little Pure Scot. This will be the perfect antidote to those winter chills.
Maple-Syrup Old Fashioned
Source / Link : Nerds With Knives
This version of the Old Fashioned gets it’s sweetness from the syrup rather than sugar. Add the bitters, shake over ice and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a lovely little winter warmer.
Christmas Day Clementine Sour
Source / Link : NY Times
Clementines, Amaretto and Pure Scot with a spiced brown sugar mix. This New York Times recipe takes a little more effort but the results are worthwhile.
