Rose Cottage, Crail

For our Easter school holidays this year, we’ve rented the beautiful Rose Cottage, north of Crail, on the East coast of Scotland.

Rose Cottage is a single-level cottage near the sea, away from civilisation, and with a huge, secluded back garden.Rose Cottage

The drive took around two hours from Glasgow, the last of which took us through the picturesque Fife coastline.

The Cottage

The Living Room

A large, comfortable living room had a working fireplace, plenty of cosy seating, two large windows and a bookcase loads with games, books and DVDs. There is a tv with Sky box, wifi and a Playstation 2 although we’ve not even thought of turning it on yet. Too many other things to enjoy!

The Kitchen
The place feels extremely homely in no small part to the amount of coastal themed ornaments, paintings and knick-knacks in the cottage. The kitchen / dining room is huge and with excellent facilities. A welcome pack contained Easter chocolates, Haggis crisps, local whisky (peaty, delicious), local cheese & crackers and a welcome bottle of Prosecco. The cooker is a belter. The boiler is easy to use – everything is. A lot of work has been put into the instruction / welcome pack, which makes life much easier.
There were also eggs, milk, a cupboard full of crockery – including kids stuff – pans, condiments, candles, cutlery. Everything you need!

There are two designated bedrooms and a sun room with a sofa bed. As there were six of us, we used all three rooms. Once we’d read the instructions on the heating, all the rooms were comfortable enough. The beds were all cosy and the rooms bright and airy.
Rose Cottage
The garden is magical. While we’ve not had the weather to spend much time outside, the kids did explore and enjoyed it immensely. Should the clouds go, we’ll be eating outside or relaxing in the lounge chairs.

The cottage is beautiful. We immediately settled in. The children have explored several times and it’s impossible for them to be bored with so many things to visit close by. The house was filled with fresh cut flowers. The toiletries were luxury. Everything was top quality. Basically, we’d live here if we could!
