The last day of the month is a phenomenom in the comping world. Its crackers for people entering online competitions. It is, by far, the busiest day. In September, for example, there were approximately 4057 competitions on The Prize Finder. Of those, 672 closed on the 30th. That’s 16.5% of the entire month’s competitions in one day!
It’s October, so many of you are going to be quite busy preparing for Halloween at the end of the month. You’re going to want to get yourself organised! In anticipation of this busy period, I have listed below some of the more interesting competitions currently closing on 31st October.
Win one of 3 iPad Minis with The Telegraph.
You can win six bottles of wine, a wood-burning stove (just by telling them why you should win a wood-burning stove), a subscription to a dating website and a book about mutton. I am not making this up.
There’s diabetes testers, a robotic vacuum cleaner, a cyberdog inflatable bubble bag (I have no idea), a holiday looking for your own food, a painting of goldfinches and a reindeer beanbag. Meet The Octonauts in Birmingham, win thermal undies, a holiday in an underwater hotel, tickets to “Tis A Pity She’s A Whore”, Chicken Charades, a Crystal Headband, a natural fertility kit and Rainbow Cakes.
Failing those, there’s a romantic break in a youth hostel (a contradiction in terms, surely), fluffy yarns, learn “How to Be Brilliant”, a Burlesque cushion, face serum, a trip to space (!) and a sample of no-alcohol beer. Not a full prize – just a sample of no-fun booze. Class.
There’s insect repellant, which will be handy for November. I can’t imagine why they’re trying to shift their stock of that just now. Finally, there’s a chance to attend a Psychic Gold event at Halloween.
It is certainly an odd place, the world of online competitions. The thing is, it’s not as if this month is particularly odd. It’s always like that. There’s some right odd stuff up for grabs, but that’s part of the appeal. You couldn’t buy half that stuff, and there’s probably a good reason for that 😉
Tell me – what’s the oddest prize you’ve seen up for grabs?
